D-Day map silk scarf

This scarf reproduces a D-Day map belonging to a British naval officer. Issued by the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF), it shows the western sector of Omaha Beach and contains annotations highlighting beach obstacles placed by the Germans to prevent an invasion.

On D-Day, 6 June 1944, Allied forces launched a combined naval, air and land assault on Nazi-occupied France.

Ground troops landed across five assault beaches - Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword. By the end of the day, the Allies had established a foothold along the coast and could begin their advance into France.

Comes in an IWM Branded gift box.
